MBB: Monroe Routs Lackawanna In Regular Season Finale

The Falcons Couldn't Quite Get Going, And The Mustangs Were Dominant Throughout On Wednesday Night

2/19/25

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Lackawanna men's basketball fell flat on the road, as Monroe University raced past the Falcons for a 103-56 win in non-region action on Wednesday evening inside the Monroe Athletic Complex.

The Falcons (15-14) took an early 2-0 lead when Jasier Carter (North Brunswick, NJ) made a lay-up off a turnover just 30 seconds into the game. A Noah Elias (Silver Spring, MD) three-pointer brought Lackawanna to within 8-5 about six minutes in, but that would be as close as Lackawanna would get the rest of the way, as the Mustangs (20-7) shot 45.7% in the first half, 50% for the game, and hit 13 three-pointers en route to the victory.

Lackawanna shot 29% for the game and was 7-for-27 from the free throw line. The Falcons committed 19 turnovers, gave up 27 points on those turnovers, and were outrebounded 44-22 by the Mustangs. Xavier Spears (East Stroudsburg, PA) led the way with 13 points off the bench for Lackawanna College. Carter finished with 12 points.

Monroe had five players in double-figures scoring, with Qingfang Pang coming off the bench to score 17 points. Eric Mejia had 12 points and nine boards, while Jordan Sanders, Riley Dunn, and Manuel Peral all scored eleven points, each, off the bench.

The Falcons will now await the start of the Region XIX Division II Championships, which will start next week. The Falcons are currently the three-seed, but, there are still games remaining for other teams, including four-seed County College of Morris, which is a half-game behind the Falcons, and can grab the third place spot away from Lackawanna with a win in its final game.
