SCRANTON, Pa. -- The fourteenth Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year is Lackawanna College women's basketball student-athlete,
Matthew Kelly (Jenkintown, PA)!
"Jkfoshizzle" scored seven goals in the final four games to help Lackawanna College Rocket League reverse sweep past Daytona State College and win the NJCAAE Fall 2025 National Championship. Kelly helped the Falcons rally from 3-0 down in their championship bout with a Daytona State team that the Falcons had lost three previous times to on the year. JK scored the first goal in game four, then tied it up at 2-2 before the Falcons staved off elimination with a 3-2 win. In game five, he scored twice to help the Falcons win it, 2-1. In game six, his two goals were a part of a 5-1 drubbing in favor of Lackawanna to force a game seven for the match. The Falcons led 2-1 with 90 seconds to play, when a centering pass to JK deflected off his car and onto the left post. JK kept driving forward and caught the ricochet, slamming it into the net to give the Falcons the 3-1 lead and the eventual 4-2 victory in game seven, securing their third-ever national championship, and first since 2023.
Kelly is a junior student-athlete at Lackawanna College and he will be a guest on a future episode of Falcons Corner, airing every Wednesday at 10am ET at lackawannafalcons.com/youtube.
The Rocket League squad has completed its Fall 2025 competition season. The Falcons will look to repeat in the Spring 2026 semester.
