SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College women's volleyball faced an onslaught of speed and power from Harford CC on Wednesday night that the Falcons couldn't keep pace with, as the visiting Fighting Owls swept past in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-13) on Wednesday night inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (6-7) played two tight sets in the first and second frames, going toe-to-toe with the Owls (8-5), but Harford hit a devastating run in each set, swinging the set from a nail-biter into a comfortable win. In set one, Harford flipped an 11-10 deficit into a 22-13 lead thanks to a 12-2 run, taking advantage of four Falcons' hitting errors and getting five aces, including four in five points during one stretch. In set two, Lackawanna led 9-7 early, but Harford used a 6-0 run to leap back in front. Lackawanna battled, eventually getting to within 19-16 thanks to some Harford mistakes, but the Owls scored five straight points to get to set point and eventually won to go up 2-0.

That set up a quiet third set, as the visiting Owls went from 9-5 up to 19-9 in the blink of an eye, eventually pulling away for the win, their second sweep of the Falcons this season.

Lackawanna was led by
Jana Hofmann (Colorado Springs, CO), who had a team-high five kills.
Ciona Braziel (Fort Worth, TX) added three kills and two solo blocks, while
Regan Freas (Louisa, VA) added three kills.
Ellania Morales (Wharton, NJ) posted 12 assists on the night.

The Falcons are back to work with an important tri-match this weekend in Delaware. On Saturday, October 4
th, Lackawanna will travel to Delaware Tech CC in Newark, DE for a tri-match with Del Tech and Brookdale. The Falcons will face Del Tech at 10:00am ET to start the morning, then the Jersey Blues from Brookdale at 12:00pm ET.Â
