MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Lackawanna College baseball attempted to come back from an early hole, but it wasn't enough, as Penn State York vanquished the Falcons, 7-5, in seven innings on Thursday evening at the Ripken Experience in South Carolina.
Â
The Falcons (1-9) actually rocketed out of the gates to start when
Louis Kegerreis (Redshirt First Year; Murrysville, PA) launched a homer to give Lackawanna a 2-0 advantage in the first, but the Nittany Lions put up four in the first and three more in the second to begin to build a lead. The Falcons got a run back in the top of the second, and were chasing the rest of the way.
Ty Federici (Sophomore; Dallas, PA) did his part, putting up an RBI single and a sac fly to bring the Falcons to a 7-5 deficit, and
Nathan Russell (Sophomore; Drexel Hill, PA) was excellent in relief, striking out five and not giving up any runs in four innings of work, but the Falcons couldn't mount the comeback, stranding a runner at third in the sixth and leaving the bases loaded in the seventh.
Â
Lackawanna gets back to work on Friday, March 8
th, when the Falcons are set for a doubleheader against Minnesota North College Itasca at the Ripken Experience. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 4:00pm ET in Myrtle Beach.
