The Falcons Will Look To Bounce Back After Their Loss This Past Thursday

SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's basketball is back to work this weekend with a road game in Region XIX DII play, as the Falcons travel to take on Delaware Tech CC on Saturday, November 23rd.
 
The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3:00pm ET and will be the second game of a doubleheader, with the women's teams competing first at 1:00pm ET. The games will be played inside the Delaware Tech gymnasium on the Stanton Campus in Newark, DE. The Falcons (6-4, 1-0) have won five of their last seven contests, with their two losses coming to two ranked opponents : Division II #16 SUNY Niagara and Division I #25 Harcum College. The Falcons most recently fell to Harcum by an 84-62 score on Thursday evening at home, hanging tough with the Bears through three quarters of the game before Harcum went on a 19-5 run over the final nine minutes to pull away for the win. The Falcons are averaging 77 points per contest, while giving up 74.8. Lackawanna is shooting 39.6% from the field and just 24.2% from downtown. First-year guard Evan Laybourn-Boddie (Wilkes-Barre, PA) is averaging 17.9 points per game this season, first on the team, shooting 37.2% from the floor and 78% from the free throw line. Laybourn-Boddie leads the team with 26 three-point makes, 39 assists and 28 steals this season. Laybourn-Boddie has scored double-digits nine times this season, putting up a season-high 28 points in the win against SUNY Onondaga on November 10th, making eleven shots, four of which were three-pointers, while putting up five steals, four assists, and four rebounds. He had a season-high six rebounds three times this season, coming against SUNY Ulster on November 12th, Jamestown on November 17th, and against Essex County College this past Tuesday. Laybourn-Boddie had a season-high six assists to go with his 26 points, six rebounds, and three steals in the overtime win against Jamestown. Laybourn-Boddie had 16 points on 6-for-19 shooting and four mad three-pointers in the loss to Harcum. He's had six straight games with four or more assists.
 
Sophomore guard Shawnn Smith (Philadelphia, PA) is second on the team, averaging 15.4 points per game this season. Smith is shooting 44.4% from the floor and is 20-for-21 from the free throw line. He averages 5.7 rebounds per game and has 19 assists, second on the team. He has scored 20 points or more in three games this season and has scored double-figures eight of nine games he's played. Smith had 23 points and seven rebounds, while playing all 40 minutes, in a loss to Montgomery County CC on November 6th. He set a season-high with nine rebounds in the loss to PSU Scranton on November 4th. Smith matched that season-high this past Tuesday with nine rebounds against Essex, while also scoring 18 points and dishing out a pair of assists in the win for Lackawanna. Smith was held to just six points on 2-for-10 shooting in the loss to Harcum on Thursday night.
 
Sophomore guard Nick Marabito (Upper Darby, PA) is averaging 12.6 points per game through his five appearances this season. Marabito is shooting 37.5% from the floor, and has made eight threes, fourth on the team. Marabito is a 72.2% free throw shooter and has eleven rebounds through five games. Marabito has scored in double-figures four times this year, with his season-high coming against Essex on Tuesday, where he had 20 points on a season-high seven makes and three made three-pointers. Marabito had eleven points and a rebound in the loss to Harcum on Thursday.
 
First-year stretch forward Noah McIntosh (Philadelphia, PA) is fourth on the team with 9.1 points per contest this year. McIntosh is shooting 41.8% from the floor and averages 4.1 rebounds per contest this season. He also has eight assists, seven steals, and six blocks. Noah has scored double-figures in four games this season, putting up a season-high 20 points against Jefferson CC on November 9th, hitting nine shots and pulling down seven rebounds. McIntosh just four points on 1-for-3 shooting and three rebounds against Harcum on Thursday.
 
First-year forward Tyrick Moy (Williamsport, PA) is averaging 7.5 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game this season, leading the Falcons in rebounding. Moy also has nine assists and is shooting 50.8% from the floor. Moy has scored double-figures twice so far this season, putting up a season-high 17 points and eight rebounds in the win against Jamestown. Moy scored all eight points in overtime for the Falcons. Moy's season-high in rebounding came against Ulster, where he pulled down 12 boards and scored nine points on November 12th. Moy scored six points and had five rebounds in 18 minutes against Harcum on Thursday.
 
Sophomore guard Jasier Carter (North Brunswick, NJ) is averaging 5.6 points per game this season, shooting 48.3% from the floor. Carter averages five rebounds per game and has 13 assists and seven steals this season. Carter scored a season-high 14 points in the win at Ulster, going 7-for-9 from the floor for the victory. Carter had four points, four rebounds, and a pair of assists against Harcum on Thursday night.
 
First-year forward Jaden McMeekin (Pittsburgh, PA) is averaging 4.6 points per game through nine contests. McMeekin is shooting 31.7% from the floor, making ten three-pointers so far this season. McMeekin averages 3.4 rebounds per contest, with 12 assists and ten steals this season. McMeekin scored his season-high seven points in the loss to Niagara last Saturday, grabbing four boards. On Sunday against Jamestown, he set season-highs in rebounds (5) and assists (4), while scoring six points in the overtime win. McMeekin had three points and three rebounds against Harcum on Thursday.
 
Head coach Kirk Fallon is in his second season as the head coach, and his fifth overall with Lackawanna College men's basketball. Fallon came to the Falcons after a successful two seasons coaching girls basketball at Susquehanna Community HS. Fallon led the Lady Sabers to back-to-back PIAA District 2 championships and a 40-17 record in his two years. Before that, he was also a college basketball assistant at Keystone College for four seasons, where he was involved a lot of the logistics for the program. Kirk has a Bachelor's degree from Marywood, where he played three seasons for the Pacers. He's a northeast PA native, graduating from Susquehanna as a 1,000-point scorer. Fallon is 14-22 in his career at Lackawanna as head coach.
 
About Delaware Tech
Delaware Tech (3-5, 0-1) has lost its last three, which includes two losses to Baltimore City CC and Raritan Valley CC. The second loss to BCCC came on Thursday night, on the road, as Baltimore overcame a two-point deficit at halftime to hold Del Tech to just 24 points in the second half, on the way to an 81-62 win for BCCC. Baltimore shot 53% from the floor, forced 25 turnovers, and held a 39-to-27 rebounding advantage. Del Tech shot 35.8% from the floor and put two players in double-figures.
 
Through eight games, Del Tech averages 76.8 points per game, while giving up 78 per game on the year. Del Tech shoots around 42% from the floor, and hits 33% of its three-point attempts. Their opponents are hitting 42% from the floor and 24.6% from downtown. Del Tech holds a +10.5 rebounding margin, averaging 37.1 rebounds per contest, while dishing out 15.9 assists per game, but they average around 20 turnovers per game this season. Del Tech also averages 9.6 steals per game and three blocks per game this year.
 
Sophomore guard Drew Zimmerman leads the team with 23.4 points per game this year through eight games, shooting 48.6% from the floor and nearly 40% from downtown. Zimmerman averages 4.3 rebounds per game, a team-best 4.9 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game this year. He has hit double-figures in all eight games this season, going for 20+ in seven games on the season. His season-best came against Union on November 9th, where he had 33 in a ten-point loss to the Owls. Zimmerman made eleven shots from the floor and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line. He had 24 points and a season-best nine rebounds in a win against RCSJ Gloucester back on November 4th. He scored 22 points and posted a season-best eight assists in a six-point loss to Harford CC to open the year on November 2nd. Zimmerman had a season-low 14 points and five assists in the loss to Baltimore City CC this past Thursday night.
 
First-year guard Obi Coleman is second on Del Tech with 15.6 points per game this year, shooting at 43% from the floor and 46.5% from beyond the arc, while also hitting 82.6% from the free throw stripe. Coleman averages 7.4 rebounds per game, second on the team, while dishing out 2.3 assists per game and a team-best 2.1 steals per game. He also leads Del Tech with 1.1 blocks per game. Coleman has scored in double-figures six times this season. His season-high is 24 points, coming against Harford to open the year, where he hit eight shots, six of which were three-pointers. He had 23 points on a season-high nine made shots in the loss to Union. He has hit double-figures in rebounds three times this year, and twice has gotten a double-double. His season-high is 12 rebounds, which he did twice, against Harford and against Raritan Valley CC. He also had a season-high six steals in the loss against Union. Coleman had 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the loss to Baltimore City CC on Thursday night.
 
Sophomore guard Cameron Moore is third on the team with 12 points per game, shooting 38.4% from the floor and hitting 27% from downtown. Moore leads the squad with 8.5 rebounds per game, and he's second on the team with 3.5 assists per game. He also averages 1.8 steals per game. He's scored in double-figures six times this season, getting a season-high 19 points in the first game against Baltimore City CC on November 16th, a seven-point loss at home. He also had 15 rebounds in that game, the second time he hit his season-high and marking his first double-double of the year. Moore had a season-high five assists against Camp CC back on November 10th. He had seven points, four rebounds, and two assists in the loss on Thursday.
 
Sophomore forward Toma Smith is fourth on the team, scoring 7.9 points per game and shooting 54.7% from the field this season. Smith averages seven rebounds per game, third on the squad, and is just below one steal and one block per game this season. Toma has scored in double-figures three times this season, which includes his season-high of 17 points in the win at Salem on November 14th. Smith hit eight shots that night in the win. Smith has two double-doubles this season, with ten points and a season-high 13 rebounds coming against Baltimore City CC the first time around on November 16th. He was held to four points and six boards in the rematch on Thursday.
 
Richard Rago is the head coach, now in his seventh season with the program. Rago helped lead the team to a Region XIX DII championship in 2022, and had been a fixture in Delaware basketball circles, coaching boys basketball at St. Elizabeth HS for 30 years before coming to Del Tech in 2018. Rago has 37 wins in his career at Delaware Tech.
