SCRANTON, Pa. --Â A scoring drought struck at the worst possible moment for Lackawanna College, as the Falcons managed just five points over the final 8:58 of game time in an 84-62 loss at home to Division I Harcum College on Thursday evening inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
Â
The Falcons (6-4) were hanging tough midway through the second half, and benefited from a potential error from the officials. Trailing 65-55 with 9:09 to go, the shot clock was winding down as the Falcons missed a running lay-up on the right side that never hit the rim.
Tyrick Moy (Williamsport, PA) grabbed the rebound, turned and twisted in the lane, and seemingly did not get the shot off before the horn sounded, but the officials never blew the whistle. Moy, to his credit, kept playing, grabbed his miss, and scored off the glass to make it 65-57 with under nine to go. The Falcons would go the rest of the way with just two makes on eleven attempts, as DI #25 Harcum (7-2) clamped down on defense and closed the game on a 19-5 run to pull away for the win.
Â
Evan Laybourn-Boddie (Scranton, PA) led the Falcons with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers and dishing out four assists.
Nick Marabito (Upper Darby, PA) had eleven points off the bench, despite a tough shooting night at 3-for-12.
Elijah Smith (Washington, D.C.) was excellent off the bench, scoring nine points and securing a team-high 14 rebounds, including eight offensive boards. The Falcons shot 32% for the game, and just 25% in the second half, while hitting just 6-for-28 from downtown.
Â
The Falcons will return to Region XIX DII play on Saturday, November 23
rd, as Lackawanna travels to take on Delaware Tech CC in men's basketball action. Tip is scheduled for 3:00pm ET inside the DTCC gymnasium on the Stanton Campus in Newark, DE.
