SYRACUSE, NY –
Evan Laybourn-Boddie led the way with 28 points, and Lackawanna College men's basketball won its second straight game, taking a 79-60 decision over the hosts, SUNY Onondaga, on Sunday afternoon at the Lazer Tip-Off Classic.
Â
The Falcons (3-2) scored 48 points by halftime, holding a 48-23 advantage heading into the break. The Lazers (1-3) didn't go quietly, getting the game to within 16 points at 60-44, Falcons, with a little under ten minutes to play. But a decisive five-point spurt seemed to do the trick for Lackawanna.
Noah McIntosh (Philadelphia, PA) went 1-for-2 from the free throw line, then the Falcons got a break-out lay-up from Laybourn-Boddie (Wilkes-Barre, PA), after
Shawnn Smith (Philadelphia, PA) got a steal. Onondaga missed a three-pointer off the rim, and the carom eventually fell to a hustling
Jasier Carter (North Brunswick, NJ) at mid-court, who quickly fed the ball to a streaking McIntosh, finishing with a thunderous two-handed dunk to stretch the lead back out to 65-44 and forcing an Onondaga timeout with 8:36 to go.
Â
The Lazers made one final push with about 2:30 to go, getting within 73-58, but a long, empty Falcons possession, followed by a turnover by Onondaga on the other end, all but sealed any chance of a comeback, with Lackawanna adding some late buckets to widen the margin out to the final 19-points.
Â
On top of Laybourn-Boddie's 28, Smith put in ten points.
