RANDOLPH, NJ – The offense finally clicked into gear, and Lackawanna got a big win on the road, taking down County College of Morris by a 9-0 margin on Tuesday afternoon in a cross-divisional region contest.
The Falcons (3-4-0) had a 2-0 lead at the break, but then poured things on in the second half, getting seven goals from four different players to pull away for the win. Morris (0-13-0) had four shots on goal, but
Aldo Vargas (Scranton, PA) saved all four shots to preserve the clean sheet.
Guillermo Ramírez (Valencia, Venezuela) got Lackawanna on the board in the 13
th minute with his first goal of the season, and a penalty kick eight minutes later from
Alexandro Velazquez (Wilkes-Barre, PA) made it 2-0 after 21 minutes.
That 2-0 lead held into halftime, but it was the second half where Lackawanna really flexed its muscle.
Nahuel Minis (Old Forge, PA) scored from an assist by Ramírez in the 54
th minute, then
Thomas Esgro (Moscow, PA) got on the scoresheet with a long bomb from 30 yards out in the 60
th minute that made it 4-0.
Later,
Sebastian Carmona (Scranton, PA) scored a pair of goals in the 73
rd and 76
th minute, with the latter coming after a Seba corner kick was deflected off the keeper into the net.
Edwin Garces (Ecuador) added a goal in the 79
th minute, then
Tyler Pepsin (Old Forge, PA) scored a pair of goals in the 85
th and 88
th minute to round out the scoring for the Falcons.
Lackawanna College has now won two straight games, and three of its last four matches. The Falcons now turn their collective attention to a big home match with Mercer County CC on Saturday, October 19
th. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm ET at Mid Valley HS in Throop, PA.
