DUNMORE, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's soccer turned in an inspired effort on Saturday morning at home, getting two goals from
Nahuel Minis to take a 2-1 victory over Bucks County CC at Schautz Stadium.
The Falcons (2-4-0) outshot the Centurions (5-7-1) 14-to-7 on the day and held their own in possession. The breakthrough came in the 36
th minute, when Minis (Old Forge, PA) got on the other end of a headed pass from
Edwin Garces (Ecuador) in the box, using his head to poke the ball into the net and make it 1-0, Lackawanna. The lead was short-lived, as Bucks responded just two minutes later in the 38
th minute, with a long shot from the left side of the box that curled into the top right corner to make it 1-1 heading into halftime.
In the 59
th minute, Minis threaded a ball to the right side to Garces, who took a few touches down towards the corner before crossing back into the box. For the second time, he connected with Minis, as Minis headed the ball past the keeper to give the Falcons the 2-1 lead.
The game opened up as Bucks became stretched trying to chase the lead, and Lackawanna did its best to defend and counter.
Aldo Vargas (Scranton, PA) did his part in goal, coming up with four saves to help preserve the win.
Lackawanna College is next in action on Tuesday, October 15
th, when the Falcons travel to take on the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ. The first kick is at 3:30pm ET.
