SCRANTON, Pa. – A strong first quarter turned out to be an outlier, as Lackawanna College women's basketball couldn't keep pace with visiting Harcum College, a 102-51 winner in Region XIX Division II women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Lackawanna College Student Union.
Â
The Falcons (6-10, 2-5) battled with the Bears (17-3, 4-2), and even held a slim lead at 14-13 midway through a rough-and-tumble first quarter, before Harcum's defense started to wake up and put some pressure on Lackawanna's guards. The score after one was 26-18, Harcum, but the visitors never took their foot off the accelerator, forcing 45 turnovers and getting 50 points off those turnovers on the day.
Â
Lackawanna was led by
Desiree White (First Year; Carlisle, PA), who scored a game-high 16 points to lead all scorers.
Nariyah Turner (Sophomore; Philadelphia, PA) added nine points and 14 rebounds, while
Saraiah Franklin (First Year; Philadelphia, PA) had five points and 13 boards. The Falcons shot just 32% from the floor, and were 2-for-16 from beyond-the-arc.
Â
Harcum had all 14 players who saw time, score, and had four players in double-figures, all from the bench. Camryn Graham finished with a triple-double, scoring eleven points, grabbing ten rebounds, and dishing out eleven assists. Ayneigeja Ferguson-Dugas had a team-high 13 points.
Â
The Falcons are back to work on Thursday, February 1
st, when they are set to host the Monroe College Mustangs for a non-region women's basketball contest. That game will be the first of a doubleheader, and will tip at 5:00pm ET inside the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
