SCRANTON, Pa. –
Aamir Mack scored 25 points and Lackawanna College led wire-to-wire in an 85-64 home win over SUNY Ulster County CC on Saturday afternoon at the Lackawanna College Student Union in non-region NJCAA men's basketball action.
The Falcons (7-8) used a suffocating press and lightning quick offense to grab a 12-0 lead just a few minutes into the game, and never surrendered, building a lead that got as high as 30 points on the afternoon. Lackawanna shot 44.6% from the floor and hit nine three-point shots, while forcing 19 steals on 14 turnovers and putting up 20 points off those turnovers. Mack
(Sophomore; Atlantic City, NJ) led the way again with 25 points and eight rebounds. He had three highlight dunks, including one off an alley-oop pass just before the halftime whistle that gave Lackawanna a 16-point lead at the break.
Daryl Coleman (Sophomore; Allentown, PA) scored 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting in just his second game back for the Falcons, and
Joey Chapman (Sophomore; Reading, PA) put up ten assists running the potent Falcons offense.
The Senators (4-9) struggled throughout the game, shooting just 29% from the field, but made 19 free throws and hit seven three-point shots, putting four players in double-figures. Kofi Mends led the way with 17 points on 7-for-19 shooting. Jacob Stange and Ashaasea Sankofa each had 13 points, and Daniel McCollum added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons are 2-0 in the new year, and turn their attention to the Region XIX schedule on Tuesday, January 16
th, when they are set to travel to Mercer County CC for a key region battle in New Jersey. Tip-off is currently set for 6:00pm ET. The Vikings defeated the Falcons in their first match-up this year, 78-48, back in November in Scranton.
