SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College Esports Rocket League bounced back with a resounding victory over Region XIX opponent Camden County College on Friday night in NJCAAE play, 3-0 (5-2, 7-0, 2-1), picking up its third overall victory on the season.Â
The Falcons (3-2) got a team-best eight goals from
Guadalupe Oca (Gamertag: AyeOca), as well as six assists, while
Matthew Kelly (Gamertag: JKfoshizzle) provided six goals and four assists, and Jakob Seamans (Gamertag: Jakob) had three saves and a pair of saves. Lackawanna had 40 shots for the entirety of the match, keeping constant pressure on the Cougars.Â
Game one was a breeze for the Falcons, who out-shot Camden 12-3 and scored five goals in the period, all five coming from Kelly. Oca had four assists, and the Falcons combined for a pair of saves in the period.Â
Game two saw the Falcons land seven goals on 16 shots, holding Camden to just a pair for the period. Oca scored six of the seven, with Kelly adding the other. Kelly had four assists and a pair of saves, while Seamans added two assists in the second.Â
Game three was certainly much tighter, with Camden taking its first lead of the night near the midway point of the period, but the Falcons rallied as Oca scored back-to-back goals in the span of about 30 seconds of gametime to swing the Falcons in front. Lackawanna survived a late rally from Camden, playing defense to deny the Cougars an equalizer and come out with the win.Â
The Rocket League squad is back to work on Monday, October 2nd, when they return to NACE action to take on the University of New Haven at 7:00pm ET. That match will be streamed via the Lackawanna College Twitch channel at twitch.tv/lackawannaedu.Â
