SCRANTON, Pa. -- Guilford Tech CC proved to be more than a match for Lackawanna College Esports in Valorant competition on Thursday evening, as the Falcons fell 2-0 (13-3, 13-2) in NJCAAE play.
The Falcons (0-2) fell behind 3-0 early in the first map before managing to get a few early eliminations in the fourth round of game one, which translated to an eventual victory to cut into the deficit at 3-1. Those victories proved to be few and far between, as the Titans built an 11-1 lead before the switch from defense to offense. Lackawanna dropped the first round after the switch, but managed to pull together a pair of wins on offense before dropping the final round, finishing the first map with a 13-3 defeat.
On map two, Lackawanna started on defense, but it was more of the same, as the Titans from Guilford dismantled the Falcons with ruthless efficiency. Lackawanna managed to steal a pair of wins to cut into 5-2 deficit, and the Falcons had a chance with a 2-on-1 advantage in the eighth round, but Guilford rebounded to get the win, and then rattled off seven more in a row to close out map two.
The Valorant squad gets back on stream next Thursday, September 28th, when they take on Johnston Community College. That match is set for a 7:00pm ET start, and can be seen on the Lackawanna College Esports Twitch channel at twitch.tv/lackawannaedu.
