BLUE BELL, Pa. --Â Facing a solid opponent on the road, Lackawanna College women's volleyball couldn't keep its winning streak rolling, as the Falcons fell 3-1 (25-18, 12-25, 25-19, 25-21) to Montgomery County CC on Tuesday evening in Blue Bell, PA.
Â
The Falcons (5-4) struggled to contain the Mustangs (4-3) throughout the night, as the strong outside hitting from Montgomery gave Lackawanna fits. Trailing 1-0 after the first set, the Falcons were on top of their game for set two, getting a
Nadia Toth (First Year; East Benton, PA) solo block to break Montco's serve, then back-to-back
Maddilyn Durfee (First Year; Buffalo, NY) service aces to take early control. Later, a pair of
Angelique Fuentes kills
(First Year; Miami, FL), along with a few mistakes from Montco, helped the Falcons build a 12-6 advantage. The lead expanded out to as high as 21-9, and the Falcons coasted from there to take set two.
Â
Fuentes had eleven kills and 16 digs for the match, while Toth hit .357 for the match, and Durfee had 36 assists and 12 digs for the Falcons.
Â
Lackawanna College is back home on Thursday, September 21
st, when the Falcons are set to host perennial Division III power Northampton Community College. That match is set for a 6:00pm ET start at the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.Â
