ROCHESTER, NY -- Lackawanna College men's soccer dropped another one-goal decision, it's second of the year, with a 1-0 defeat on the road at Monroe CC in Rochester, NY on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Tribunes (4-0-0) scored the game's first and only goal in the 18^th minute, after springing an attack down the left flank, crossing the ball into the box, then pinging it back and forth to find the opening and rocket it past the Lackawanna defense.
 
Lackawanna College (1-3-0) was pinned back for most of the first half, but had moments where it was a pass or two away from getting a good look. The Falcons just couldn't string together enough solid possession in the final third to truly threaten the Tribunes, as Monroe took their 1-0 lead into the break.
 
The second half saw more of the same, and the Falcons faced more pressure from the Tribunes. Late in the second half, Lackawanna had a free kick in the left corner just outside the box, but Monroe managed to thwart the Falcons' big opportunity, and the resulting breakout for the Tribunes got them a 2-on-1 opportunity with the Lackawanna defense. As the Falcons were streaking back, they clattered into the Tribunes, causing a penalty to be awarded to Monroe. That provided a highlight save from Jahdale Givans (Sophomore; Bronx, NY), diving to his right to deny what would have been the clincher. Unfortunately, the Falcons couldn't get the ball down field n the final two minutes, resulting in Monroe getting the win.
 
Lackawanna College tries to get back on track with a Region XIX contest on Tuesday, September 19^th, when the Falcons host the Skylanders from Sussex County CC. Kickoff is at 3:30pm ET from Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.
