BASE: Lackawanna College Earns Doubleheader Split At Harford CC

The Falcons Won Game One, Then Dropped The Second Of A Twinbill at Harford CC

2/23/23

BEL AIR, Md. -- Lackawanna College split a doubleheader on the road at NJCAA Division I Harford CC on Thursday afternoon and evening, winning game one 10-6 and dropping the second game 3-1 in Bel Air, MD.

The Falcons (3-1) scored seven runs in the third inning of game one to build a big lead, then put things out of reach with two more runs in the sixth to stave off the Fighting Owls, as the Falcons cycled through six pitchers to hold on to the lead. Eric Ludwick (Bethlehem, PA) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a walk, while Brayden D'Amico (Bethlehem, PA) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Spencer Butz (York, PA) was 1-for-4, but his one was a three-run homer in the second inning that boosted the Falcons to their big lead.

Aiden Starn (Pennsville, NJ) went two innings of relief to pick up the win, giving up two hits and a run, with three strikeouts.

The Falcons, in game two, were a lot less proficient from the dish, as the Harford pitching staff struck out 12 Falcons batters over the course of seven innings. Ludwick hit a solo homerun for the only run for the Falcons, and the Falcons committed two errors in the second inning, gifting Harford runs and a lead they'd never surrender.

Lackawanna College is next in action on Tuesday, February 28th, when the Falcons travel to Vineland, NJ to take on Region XIX Division III opponent RCSJ-Cumberland for one nine-inning game.
