SCRANTON, Pa. -- As we approach the end of 2023, Lackawanna College Athletics is reflecting on the top moments from the 2023 athletics calendar, and revealing them one day at a time between now and the new year!
Today's top event comes to us from the annual ExtraLife event put on by the Lackawanna College Esports squad.
#11: Lackawanna Esports Raises $12K For Charity
For the third straight year in November, Lackawanna College Esports partnered up with the ExtraLife charity through the Children's Miracle Network and the Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville, PA to raise money to help sick children. The event, a 12-hour livestream on the Lackawanna College Esports Twitch Channel, live from Bartari in Scranton, is held every year on the first Sunday of November.
In its first two years, the event raised a total of nearly $9,000. This past year, the event blew through expectations, raising a total of $12,518.75, thanks to generous donations from the Lackawanna College community. There was an auction held for raffle prizes and baskets, as well as a constant stream of supporters for the charity throughout the afternoon at Bartari. Patrons entered the raffle, took advantage of the food and drinks available, and played on stream, as well as with Bartari's various arcade games. Members of other Lackawanna College athletics squads, including men's and women's basketball, were in attendance, and the raffles included a brand new Nintendo Switch console, lottery scratch-off tickets, donated Yeti-branded coolers, an arcade game with numerous games on it, and plenty more.

Robert Dee, along with the whole Esports squad, were present throughout the afternoon during the livestream, playing various games with both themselves and with even some children and kids who stopped by during the fundraiser.
Lackawanna College looks forward to continuing to raise money in this wonderful partnership with ExtraLife, Janet Weis Children's Hospital, and Bartari in the years to come.
