MSOC: Carmona Hattrick Highlights Lackawanna Win

The Falcons Scored Six Goals Over The Last Sixty Minutes Of Gametime, Including Four Second-Half Goals To Get The Win

Box Score 10/5/23

DUNMORE, Pa. -- It took some time for the pressure to pay off, but Lackawanna College men's soccer eventually broke free and got the scores it was looking for, taking a 6-0 victory over Union County College on Thursday evening at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.

The Falcons (4-4-0) got a hattrick from Sebastian Carmona (First Year; Scranton, PA), as well as goals from Ermir Hoti (First Year; Gjakova, Kosovo) and Guillermo Ramírez (First Year; Valencia, Venezuela) to help give Lackawanna the boost.

For the first 30 minutes, Lackawanna held plenty of possession and kept the pressure up, but couldn't get any goals to show for it. Eventually, the Falcons' pressure paid off, when a long cross found Ramírez, who dumped it right to a streaking Carmona, who angled left and found the crease to beat the keeper for the 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.

Seven minutes later, the Falcons doubled their lead when a cross to Carmona was dumped backwards to Ramírez, who got just enough to put it away in the bottom right corner to double the Falcons lead heading into the break.

Lackawanna kept its possession and pressure up in the second half, and was rewarded when Union (1-8-1) fouled the Falcons in the box, gifting Lackawanna a penalty try from the spot. In stepped the sure-footed Hoti, who put the chance away to make it 3-0, Falcons, in the 71st minute.

Hoti added a second just four minutes later, when a ricocheted shot deflected back to him near the top of the box, and he looped a shot into the upper right 90 to push the Falcons lead to 4-0.

Lackawanna got another goal in the 85th minute, when a Hoti through-ball found Carmona on the left side, who put it away for his second goal and the 5-0 lead. Carmona added his third with 30 seconds left to finish off the scoring.

The Falcons get right back to work with a crucial home match on Saturday afternoon, when Lackawanna faces off against fellow Region XIX DII opponent Essex County College. It's the second match of a doubleheader, with the women's teams playing first at 12:00pm ET. The men's game is set for a 2:00pm ET start.
