WEST WINDSOR TWP., NJ -- The Lackawanna College men's soccer season came to an end at the Region XIX tournament, as the Falcons fell 3-0 to third-seeded Massasoit CC in the semi-final round on Saturday afternoon at Mercer County CC in West Windsor, Twp. NJ.
The Falcons (7-5-1) earned the two-seed, but got matched up with Massasoit (12-1-2), the defending District champions from last season. The Warriors scored two goals in the first half and added a third with ten minutes remaining in the second half to seal the deal, firing of 18 shots, 13 on goal, and facing just four shots on target from the Falcons.
The Falcons had a few opportunities to try to climb back in early in the second half, but were wasteful with their chances, and Massasoit managed to overpower Lackawanna to come out with the win.
The Warriors move on to face the host Mercer County CC, which won 3-0 over Essex County College in the first game.
Lackawanna ends its season with seven wins, one more than last season and the second straight year that the team set a program-record for wins in a year. Lackawanna also had a Region XIX Player of the Year in Guillermo Ramírez
(First Year; Valencia, Venezuela), the first time in program-history that a Lackawanna College player was awarded the Player of the Year honor.
