MSOC: Falcons Hassle Hawks For Third Straight Win

Lackawanna College Had Six Different Players Score Goals In A Dominant Road Victory

Box Score 10/10/23

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Six goals from six different players paced Lackawanna men's soccer, as the Falcons beat the Harrisburg Area CC Hawks 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in the state's capital.

The Falcons (6-4-0) had six different players get on the scoresheet in a game that saw nine goals total. The first came in the eleventh minute, when Sebastian Carmona (First Year; Scranton, PA) headed home his fifth goal of the season on an excellent cross from Tyler Pepsin (First Year; Old Forge, PA). Another eleven minutes passed, and the Falcons scored again, this time courtesy of a penalty kick from Ermir Hoti (First Year; Gjakova, Kosovo).

HACC got a goal back in the 30th minute off a rebound after a save from Jahdale Givans (Sophomore; Bronx, NY), when the save deflected to Hawks player to poke it home. The Falcons got that goal back just before the halftime whistle, when Kevin Taipe (First Year; Lima, Peru) bagged a goal to restore the two-goal lead, giving the Falcons the 3-1 advantage at the break.

José Gonzalez (Sophomore; Maracaibo, Venezuela) scored just four minutes into the second half, when Taipe chipped a defender and got Gonzalez a look, which he buried in the bottom left to make it 4-1. Harrisburg scored two goals in ten minutes, getting a goal in the 55th and then a penalty kick in the 65th that cut the Lackawanna advantage to 4-3.

The Falcons responded with more offense. First it was Joshua Kalinock (Sophomore; Blakeslee, PA) scoring on a Hoti assist off a corner kick, then it was Pepsin getting his first goal of the year in the 76th minute to restore the three-goal lead for the Falcons, which Lackawanna saw out the rest of the way.

Lackawanna College has now won three-straight, and five of its last six matches. In those five games, Lackawanna has outscored its opponents 24-3, with four clean sheet victories. The Falcons are next in action on Friday, October 13th, when they travel to Penn State Schuylkill for a non-region contest. That match is set for a 4:00pm ET start.
