NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Â Lackawanna College couldn't overcome a sluggish shooting afternoon, coupled with 23 turnovers, as the #12 Monroe College Mustangs raced past the Falcons for an 86-68 victory on Saturday afternoon in New Rochelle, NY.

The Falcons (11-5) shot just 31% for the game and committed 23 turnovers, which turned into 23 points for Monroe on the other end. The Mustangs (21-2) bulled past the Falcons, shooting 50% from the field and scoring 62 of their 86 points in the paint. It wasn't for lack of effort from Lackawanna College, as the smaller Falcons actually outrebounded the Mustangs, 53-42, including 16 offensive boards, and hit ten three-point shots as a team, their best output of the season from beyond the arc.

Lackawanna was led by
Nasir Brown (Wilmington, DE), who scored a team-high 17 points and was 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
Jawane Buckner (Wilkes-Barre, PA) had a season-high 14 points off the bench, hitting three three-point shots and going 5-for-8 from the floor.
Aamir Mack (Atlantic City, NJ) chipped in with nine points off the bench, while
Malek Mims (Bethlehem, PA) added nine points, five assists, and four rebounds.

The Mustangs, the #12 team in the latest NJCAA DI rankings, won their eleventh straight game, thanks to a game-high 18 points from Melvin Council, Jr. Ziare Wells added 16 points off the bench for Monroe.

Lackawanna College will have to get right back to work with a Region 19 contest on Tuesday, January 24
th, when they travel to Newark, NJ to take on Essex County College. That game is set for an 7:00pm ET tip-off.
