MSOC: Lackawanna College Stays Unbeaten With Road Win

The Falcons Overcame An Early Deficit To Come Away With The Win On Saturday

9/24/22

CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Lackawanna College men's soccer kept its stellar start to 2022 going with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over CCBC Catonsville on Saturday afternoon in Maryland.

The Falcons (3-0-0) fell behind in the seventh minute when CCBC Catonsville (0-10-1) when James Anderson headed the ball off the crossbar and down into the goal on a corner kick, giving the Cardinals the early advantage. Ahmed Kaid (Staten Island, NY) got Lackawanna back to level pegging when a corner kick deflected off the head of Jose Gonzalez (Scranton, PA) and dropped right to his feet, which he promptly smashed the ball into the netting. The Falcons would score their second, and the eventual game-winner, when Kevin Andrade (Scranton, PA) looped a right-footed shot on a free kick from the left side into the top left of the net in the 38th minute.

Lackawanna College outshot Catonsville 20-to-4 for the game, and had 12 shots on target. The Falcons also had ten corners to Catonsville's one.

The win gives Lackawanna College its first three-game winning streak, as well as its best start to a season in program history. The Falcons will look to build on their success when they return to Region XIX play on Tuesday, September 27th, travelling to New Jersey to take on Sussex County CC. Kickoff is set for 4:00pm ET in Newton, NJ.
