SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's soccer is back to work in its first match in nine days tomorrow, when the Falcons travel to take on CCBC Catonsville on Saturday, September 24
th at 1:00pm ET at the Stadium Field in Catonsville, MD.
Last season, the Cardinals came to Scranton and beat the Falcons 5-0 in a dominant performance.

About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (2-0-0) enters the weekend after a nine-day layoff. The Falcons haven't played since last Thursday, September 15
th, when they defeated Delaware County CC in a seven-goal thriller, 4-3.
Robert Jarvis Humphreys (Soufriere, Dominica) scored a first half hat-trick, but it was almost not enough, as the Phantoms mounted a comeback in the second half.
Anthony D'Angelis (Holtsville, NY) put things out of reach with the fourth goal of the afternoon, and his first of the season, in the 65
th minute.
In two games this year, the Falcons have scored eight goals, and are averaging 19 shots per contest. Humphreys is the leading scorer for the Falcons this season, pumping five goals in two games.
Kevin Andrade (Scranton, PA) has a goal and an assist this year, while
Darlyn Uceta (Philadelphia, PA) has a goal, and
Ahmed Kaid (Staten Island, NY) has a pair of assists.
Jahdale Givans (Bronx, NY) is the main stopper at the back, with a clean sheet in his first game, and ten saves to his credit so far this season. Givans also has an assist, coming in the win against Delaware County CC.
The Falcons are coached by
Zachary Shiposh, in his first season with Lackawanna College. Shiposh, a Clarks Summit native, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience from all over the world. Shiposh played at St. John's University in New York, gaining valuable high-level collegiate experience, and then transitioned into playing and coaching in soccer hotbeds like Brazil and Germany. He has several coaching certifications, and was the Falcon assistant in the spring 2022 semester before being elevated to head coach.
About The Opponents
CCBC Catonsville (0-9-1) has struggled so far this season in the rugged Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. The Cardinals have lost their last four matches, including a 1-0 loss this past Thursday at home against WVU Potomac State. Catonsville spent almost the entire match on defense, managing just one shot. The Catamounts struggled finish, but finally got their game winner in the 82
nd minute to put away the Cardinals.
The Cardinals have just two goals in their first ten games. Abdou Loum and Mike Miranda are the two goal scorers, while Alec Britton has both assists. Catonsville is averaging 5.2 shots per game, two shots on goal.
Austin Thomas has been the main keeper, allowing an average of 4.5 goals per game this year. Thomas has 56 saves on the season. Catonsville has allowed five or more goals in four of their ten games this year.
The head coach for CCBC Catonsville is Kingsley Onwuka, in his first season at the helm for the Cardinals. Onwuka has extensive experience, both as a collegiate player and coach. Kingsley, a Nigerian native, moved to the USA when he was eleven, and immediately began playing soccer in the Baltimore area. Onwuka attended CCBC Essex, where he helped the Knights get to two national tournaments in two years, and then went on to play at UMBC, where he helped the Retrievers to an America East conference title and an NCAA tournament appearance. After his graduation at UMBC, Onwuka played professionally in various leagues, then transitioned into coaching, leading highly successful high school programs before coming to Catonsville.
