MEDIA, Pa. -- Lackawanna College got a first half hat-trick from
Robert Jarvis Humphries (Soufriere, Dominica), but needed a game-winner in the second half from
Anthony D'Angelis (Holtsville, NY) to down the home team Delaware County CC, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon in Media, PA.
The Falcons (2-0-0) and the Phantoms (0-2-0) played a pretty even contest, with Lackawanna holding an edge in possession (54/46) and having a 10-3 corner kick advantage. Humphries, who now has five goals in two games, managed to score three in the first half, two off assists. One came from his keeper
Jahdale Givans (Bronx, NY) as the Falcons staked themselves to a 3-1 halftime advantage. The other helper came courtesy of
Ahmed Kaid (Staten Island, NY).
The Phantoms scored a pair of goals in the second half as the pressure mounted, but the Falcons found a game-winner from D'Angelis off a pass from
Jose Gonzalez (Scranton, PA) to grab a 4-3 lead. From there, Lackawanna College held on for the win to stay unbeaten in its first two games.
The Falcons are 2-0 for the first time since 2019, and have scored more goals (8) in their first two games this season than they did in the ten games they played in the spring and fall seasons in 2021. It's also the most goals the Falcons have scored in their two opening games in the short history of the program.
Lackawanna College is back in action on Wednesday, September 21
st, when they host Penn State Scranton as part of a doubleheader with the women's teams at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore. The men's match is scheduled for a 4:00pm ET kick, following the conclusion of the women's match.
