SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Falcons women's volleyball team got its first win in nearly three years this past Thursday, and now the Falcons will look to build on that momentum this weekend, as the Falcons host the Delaware Tech CC Terry Hawks at 12:00pm ET inside the Lackawanna Student union on Saturday, September 10th.Â

About The Falcons
The Falcons (1-0) are fresh off a sweep over Lehigh Carbon CC this past Thursday, winning 25-17, 25-10, and 25-11 in three sets.
Melanie Pinillos (Miami, FL) led the way with ten kills, while
Hunter Heeman (New Milford, PA) and
Makayla Jones (Weatherford, TX) each provided five service aces for the Falcons.

The head coach for Lackawanna College is
Shelby Morgan, in her first season at the helm for the Falcons. Morgan spent the seven previous seasons as the head coach at nearby Cedar Crest College in Allentown, an NCAA Division III school, where she helped the Falcons go from conference basement dwellers into perennial contenders, culminating in an NCAA tournament appearance in 2021. Morgan was then hired as an Athletic Academic Advisor at Lackawanna College, and continues to serve in that capacity at Lackawanna.

About the Opponents
Delaware Tech (0-2) dropped their first two matches of the year, getting swept by both Southern Maryland and Harford. The Terry Hawks were scheduled to take on Community College of Philadelphia this past Thursday.

The Terry Hawks are led by middle blocker Paige Orth, as well as outside hitter Hailey Grotegut and setter Isabella Denk.

The head volleyball coach for Delaware Tech is Leigh Desantis, in her first season in charge with the Terry Hawks. Desantis came to Newark in 2020 as an assistant, before taking over this season. Desantis has been coaching volleyball at all levels since 2008, and is also a full-time Major within the US Air Force in the Air Force Reserve Command.Â

Next Up
The Falcons will hit the road for the first of two road matches next week, starting on Tuesday, September 13th when they travel to County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ to take on the Titans. That match is set to start at 6:00pm ET.Â
