SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College baseball team winners of seven of its last eight games, will look to add to their streak when they take on a pair of opponents this weekend in doubleheader action. On Friday, April 15
th, the Falcons will travel to Groton, CT to take on the UConn Avery Point Pointers for a doubleheader in the Nutmeg State. Then, on Saturday, April 16
th, the Falcons are back home for a massive Region XIX doubleheader clash with the other top-team in the region, Delaware Tech, at the Scranton HS Baseball Field.

Friday's doubleheader starts with game one at 1:00pm ET in Connecticut, followed by game two at 4:00pm ET. Saturday's first game against Delaware Tech will be at 2:00pm ET at Scranton HS, followed by game two around 5:00pm ET. About The Falcons
The Falcons (15-8, 6-0), after a ten-day layoff, knocked off the Lehigh Carbon CC Cougars in a pair of dominant shut-out victories on Wednesday afternoon. Â The Falcons scored nine runs in the first inning of game one, en route to an impressive 19-0 win, and then followed that up with a six-run first inning in game two, eventually pulling away to a 15-0 victory. Coach
Mike McCarry enters his fourth season at the helm for Lackawanna College. McCarry has helped elevate the Falcon program in his short time, guiding Lackawanna to a pair of NJCAA World Series appearances in his first three seasons, one of which was shortened and ultimately cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Before his time at Lackawanna, McCarry was the pitching coach at Stephen F. Austin and LaSalle Universities. As a pitching coach with both schools, he had multiple pitchers sign professional contracts, and, especially in his time at LaSalle, McCarry brought four NJCAA All-Americans to be a part of the Explorer program. Before that, McCarry spent his time in baseball in the Philadelphia Suburbs in Bucks County with Central Bucks West and the Colts Collegiate Summer Team. McCarry is a Keystone College graduate, where he played baseball for Jamie Shevchik and the vaunted Giants program. McCarry is 93-42 in his career at Lackawanna College. Â Â

About UConn Avery Point
The Pointers are 13-7-1 so far this season, and have won six of their last eight games, including their last two this week. In their last game, the Pointers hit four homers in a 30-5 rout over Holyoke CC, in a game that was called after five innings. UCAP scored 14 runs in the second inning, breaking open a 4-4 ballgame, and then added another ten runs in the fourth to really blow the game out of proportion. The Pointers had 18 base hits overall, including four doubles, and had seven different players with multiple hits. Â

UCAP is hitting .295 as a team so far this season, averaging just shy of eight runs per game. The Pointers have a collective OPS of .821, and have hit 47 extra base hits this year, including 33 doubles and eleven homeruns. UCAP has drawn 96 walks, and struck out 112 times, and they also have 42 successful steals on the season. The Pointers are slugging at .418, as a team.

Andrew Lozier is hitting .293 in his 15 games this year, and leads the Pointers in several categories, including slugging (.659), RBIs (22), and homeruns (4). Alex Mach has appeared in four games, all starts, going 2-0 with a 3.10 ERA so far this season. In 20.1 innings pitched, Mach has given up eleven runs, seven earned, on 15 hits, while striking out 27 batters, tying him for the team lead with Forcellina. Mach averages just under twelve strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Mach was last in action on April 3
rd, when he got the win in a 12-9 game against CC of Rhode Island. Mach went 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on four hits, while striking out a season-best twelve batters.

Keegan Daigle has made four starts in five appearances, going 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA. In his 18.2 innings pitched, Daigle has given up just six runs on 14 hits, striking out 23 batters in the process. Daigle didn't fare well in his last outing, a loss to Mitchell JV, 10-1, back on April 7

The head coach for UConn Avery Point is Ian Ratchford, now into his third year with the Pointers. Ratchford came to the Pointers after a year as an assistant at the University of Bridgeport in the NCAA Division II. He also spent three years at Western Connecticut State, and with the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, along with the Front Royal Cardinals of the Valley Baseball League. Ratchford is a former Pointer himself, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Post University. Ratchford is 21-20-1 in his career at UCAP.

The Terry Hawks come in with a sparkling 26-2 overall record, and a #5 national ranking in the latest NJCAA DII Baseball polls. Del Tech, which is 4-0 in Region XIX play, won 19 straight to open the year, and have won their last four in a row by a combined 79-18. Â In their last games, back on April 3
rd, the Terry Hawks swept up Montgomery (MD) by scores of 17-9 and 16-8, combining for 28 hits, including seven homers, in the wins.

Delaware Tech is hitting .364 as a team, so far this season. The Terry Hawks have a collective 1.096 OPS, and have scored 301 runs on 304 hits so far this season, averaging almost 10.8 runs per contest. Del Tech has smashed 44 homeruns on the season, while smacking a total of 116 extra base hits. Golebiowski has eight multi-hit games this year, but is coming off a streak where he was held without a hit in five of six games. In the two games against Montgomery, he was a combined 2-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a double, and a homerun.

Riley Culver has pitched the most for the Terry Hawks this season, making seven starts and going 6-0 with a 2.77 ERA in 39 innings. He's given up 14 hits, 12 earned, on 31 hits, while striking out a team-high 34 batters. Culver has won his last six starts, after not getting a decision in his first of the year. His last appearance was a four-hit, one-run showing against Lehigh Carbon, where he went all seven innings and struck out a season-high eleven batters in a 23-1 win.

Cade Williams has appeared more times (8) but has pitched two less innings than Culver (37.1), but still has an impressive 6-0 record with a 1.45 ERA. Williams has won his last five starts, including the first game of the doubleheader against Montgomery, where he pitched six innings, giving up one run on four hits, and striking out five batters in a 17-9 victory.

Zach Hart has made five starts in seven appearances, going 4-0 with one save and a 1.48 ERA. Hart, in 30.1 innings of work, has given up just seven runs, five earned, on 15 hits, while striking out 33 batters, good for second on the squad. The head coach for Delaware Tech is Stu Madden, now in his fifth season in charge. Madden came to Del Tech after spending three seasons at Seaford High School in Delaware, where he won Henlopen Conference Coach of the Year in 2017. Madden is a Langhorne, PA native, and played centerfield for Wesley College for three years. At Wesley, he was a two-time all-conference player, and still is among the all-time leaders in several categories. Madden played professional baseball in Australia for the WA Whips for two years, making an all-star game and winning a gold glove award. In his five years, Madden is 98-61-1, helping guide the Terry Hawks to the Region XIX Championship game last year, before falling to Lackawanna College in the final. Â
