SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College was pushed to the brink, but Xavier Lasenburg (Scranton, PA; Gamertag: Lvl.X) pulled off the five-set thriller, 3-2, to give the Falcons the win over Heartland CC on Wednesday night.
 
The series was wild from start to finish, as the best-of-five went the distance, and every match seemed to come down to the last stock for each player. Lasenburg chose old faithful Ryu as his character pick, while Heartland's Praspian chose Inkling from Splatoon. Both players showed great technical ability and made the other player work for every stock. Lasenburg was able to get the upper hand throughout the first two matches and was poised to end the series in match three, but Praspian was not going down without a fight. With only one stock left in the third match, Praspian's aggression kicked in, managing to hand Lasenburg his first loss of the evening and getting Heartland on the board. That match three win helped give Praspian a little momentum heading into the fourth match, where he and Lasenburg traded stocks back and forth until there was one stock left each. Unfortunately, Lasenburg had a very high damage percentage with his final stock and eventually Praspian got the better of him, knotting things up at 2-2. That set the stage for the fifth and decisive set, where Lasenburg managed to grab an early lead, and then close things out for the 3-2 victory and the series win.
 
Tonight's win moves Lasenburg to 6-1, as we head into the last week of the NJCAAE regular season. Unfortunately, once again, we have a forfeit win coming to us next week from Lasenberg's final SSBU opponent, Sussex County Community College. This FF win gives him a regular season record of 7-1 and keeps him firmly in 2^nd place in group one. It is almost a certainty that Lasenburg will be moving on to the 2022 NJCAAE SSBU Invitational Playoffs but we will wait for confirmation from the NJCAAE!
