SCRANTON, Pa. -- In a match that was closer than the final score may indicate, Lackawanna College Esports Rocket League picked up a 3-0 (3-1, 3-1, 5-1) sweep over Carl Albert State College on Monday evening in NJCAAE Rocket League Invitational action.
The rugged Vikings defense made the Falcons work for every goal on Monday, keeping things closer than the final scores show, and that was highlighted during the first game of the series, when CAS managed to rack up 6 saves. Matt Kelly (Jenkintown, PA; Gamertag: JKfoshizzle),
Caden Delaney (Honesdale, PA; Gamertag: bozi), and
Guadalupe Oca (Eagle Pass, TX; Gamertag: AyeOca) each managed to sneak a goal past the defense to give the Falcons the early advantage at 3-1. In game two, the Vikings offense came to life a bit more and put the Falcons defense on its heels. Each of the Lackawanna players contributed on defense with saves, and Kelly managed to score two goals, while Oca added another to help the Falcons to another 3-1 win and a 2-0 lead. In the third game, the Falcons had found more of a rhythm on offense, and this time Kelly managed to secure a hat trick on the Vikings defense. Oca and Delaney each added another goal, while CAS was only able to get one goal into the Falcons' net. Lackawanna College only allowed one goal per game against a Vikings team that had a combined 17 shots on target. The Falcons peppered the Vikings net with 37 combined shots.
This win over Carl Albert State keeps the Lackawanna College Falcons at 1
st place in their group with a record of 6-0. The last week of the regular season is next week where the Falcons face off against (1-5) Trinity Valley Community College. This match will be live on the Lackawanna College Esports Twitch channel on Monday November 14
