SCRANTON, Pa. – Xavier Lasenburg picked up a victory, but suffered a pair of defeats to knock himself and the Lackawanna College Esports Super Smash Brothers squad out of the NJCAAE Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Invitational Playoffs on Wednesday night.
 
Lasenburg (Scranton, PA; Gamertag: Lvl.X) began the double elimination tournament with a 3-0 loss to the player from Northern Virginia, which was the opposite result of what happened in the first match of the year, when Lasenburg won in a 3-0 sweep. Once in the elimination bracket, Lasenburg ended up picking up a win due to a forfeit from the competitor from Madison College ,which moved him into the second round of the elimination bracket, where he'd face off against "Derpeon" from Northeast Oklahoma A&M. Competing with his usual choice of the character Ryu, Lasenburg fought valiantly, but it was ultimately not enough, as Derpeon helped NEO to the 3-1 victory, knocking Lasenburg and Lackawanna College from the playoffs and ending their seasons.
 
Lasenburg gave it his all this season and earned a 6-1 regular season record while maintaining a stellar 3.63 Fall GPA. He plans to compete in the spring semester for the Falcons in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
