SCRANTON, Pa. – It was another test for Xavier Lasenburg and the Lackawanna College Esports Super Smash Bros contingent on Wednesday night, but the Falcons answered the bell behind Lasenburg's play to take a 3-1 victory over Madison College.
Tonight's NJCAAE SSBU Invitational matchup was between Lasenburg (Scranton, PA; Gamertag: Lvl.X) and a Madison College gamer using the tag "Viper." Lasenburg chose Ryu as his character, while Viper started the series with the character Min Min. Lasenburg, who has faced off against Min Min earlier this year, was able to avoid the long reach to get in tight and do some serious damage, winning round one with lives to spare. In the second round, Viper made a character switch that seemed to do the trick, keeping things much tighter against Lasenburg and tying things up at 1-all after the second round.
Lackawanna's Lasenburg rebounded in round three with a vengeance, constantly staying no attack and not allowing Viper to gain any sort of traction. Lvl.X and Ryu managed to constantly keep Viper on the back foot, and earned the round three victory to make it 2-1. Another character switch for Madison's Viper, this time to Link, didn't quite work, as Lasenburg stuck to his guns and kept the attack up, coming away with the round four win and a 3-1 win in the best-of-five series.
Lasenburg and Lackawanna College move to 5-1 in their NJCAAE SSBU Invitational season, and will be back on-stream next Wednesday 11/9 at 6:00pm ET verus Heartland Community College.
