ES: Rocket League Goes 3-0 In Tripleheader Action

The Falcons swept a pair of matches and won a third on forfeit to remain unbeaten.

10/18/22

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College ESports Rocket League picked up three wins on Tuesday evening, including a pair of sweeps and a forfeit victory to remain unbeaten on the year.

The Falcons (6-0, 3-0 NJCAAe) swept twice, beating both Heartland CC (4-1, 2-1, 1-0) and Utica University (8-0, 9-2, 5-2) in their first two matches, before settling for a forfeit win in the third match when Rollins College had to bow out. Caden Delaney (Honesdale, PA; Gamertag: bozi) led the way with 16 goals and four assists over the first two matches, including a team-best 12 goal effort in the win over Utica. Matthew Kelly (Jenkintown, PA; Gamertag: JKfoshizzle) had seven goals and a team-high ten assists on the night, while Justin Bryk (Wilkes-Barre, PA; Gamertag: Brickster) came off the bench in match two and scored a pair of goals, while dishing out four assists of his own.

Match 1 (Lackawanna 3 - 0 Heartland CC)
Delaney led the Falcons in the first match, scoring four goals over the three games to help Lackawanna to the win. The Falcons came out strong in the first game, taking control and running away with a  4-1 lead, but the Hawks from Heartland CC responded in game two by taking an early 1-0 advantage. The Falcons managed to rally, tying things back up with 1:40 to go in the game on a Delaney goal. Lackawanna College pushed for the winner, and got it with 40 seconds remaining when Guadelupe Oca (Eagle Pass, TX; Gamertag: AyeOca) managed to stay patient in front of net and walk it in for the game-winner to push the Falcon lead to 2-0. The third game was tight, and saw just one goal, which came with 2:31 left to go, when the Hawks turned the ball over and Delaney took advantage, charging in on the right side and scoring by himself to put the Falcons up 1-0. The lead held, barely, as the Falcons defended hard to preserve the win.
