SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's soccer will look to keep its program-best start going with a road trip to Lehigh Carbon CC on Saturday October 15
th, for a Region 19 clash. This is the second match-up between the Falcons and Cougars. Lackawanna College opened their season with a 4-0 victory over Lehigh Carbon at Schautz Stadium back on September 13

The men's game is set for a 2:00pm ET kickoff at the Lehigh Carbon CC soccer field, and is the second game of a doubleheader, with the women's teams getting things started at 12:00pm ET. There is no video livestream available.
About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (5-1-0) is off to one of its best starts in program history, and the Falcons are closing in on tying a program-record for wins in a year. One more victory will tie the 2019 team's six-win season. The Falcons have already guaranteed their first winning regular season in program history. In their last match-up, last Saturday against Harrisburg Area CC, the Falcons knocked off the Hawks 4-1, utilizing a hat-trick from
Darlyn Uceta (Philadelphia, PA) and a goal from
Robert Jarvis Humphreys (Soufriere, Dominica), all coming in the first half. You can read the recap

The Falcons have outscored their opponents 17-9 in six games this year, averaging 3.4 goals per contest. The Falcons average just shy of 20 shots per contest, and usually put a little over 50% of those shots on target. Ten of the 17 Falcons goals have had assists attached to them this season.
Humphreys leads the team with seven goals on the season, three coming in a first-half hat-trick performance against Delaware County CC. Humphreys has over 30 shots on the year, close to 20 of which have been on target. Humphreys had a goal in the win over Harrisburg Area.
Uceta is now second on the team with four goals this season. Uceta, a two-sport athlete from the Lackawanna College baseball team that joined the soccer squad this season, scored in the opener against Lehigh Carbon, converting a breakaway goal late in the match to cap off a 4-0 victory for the Falcons. His hat-trick came in the first half against HACC.
Kevin Andrade (Scranton, PA) has a pair of goals this year, as well as an assist. D'Angelis also has a pair of goals this year, including the goal he scored against Sussex last week. Smith, along with
Ahmed Kaid (Staten Island, NY) each have scored a goal for the Falcons this year. Kaid is tied with
Jose Gonzalez (Scranton, PA) for the team lead in assists this season with two, apiece.
Jahdale Givans (Bronx, NY) is the main stopper at the back, with two clean sheets on the year, and 39 saves to his credit so far this season. 22 of those saves came in the 4-0 defeat against Mercer County CC, the lone blemish in the Falcons season so far this year. Givans also has an assist, coming in the win against Delaware County CC.
The Falcons are coached by
Zachary Shiposh, in his first season with Lackawanna College. Shiposh, a Clarks Summit native, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience from all over the world. Shiposh played at St. John's University in New York, gaining valuable high-level collegiate experience, and then transitioned into playing and coaching in soccer hotbeds like Brazil and Germany. He has several coaching certifications, and was the Falcon assistant in the spring 2022 semester before being elevated to head coach.
About The Opponents
Lehigh Carbon CC (3-8-3) has had an up-and-down season this year, but the Cougars, after a win and a draw, have dropped their last two contests, a 3-2 loss to Harrisburg Area, and a 2-0 defeat on the road at Northampton. The Spartans were dominant, outshooting the Cougars 28-to-1, holding Lehigh Carbon CC in their defensive half almost all game.
The Cougars have been outscored more-than-double their goal output this year, 47-23. Of their 133 shots, 71 have been on target. They have been awarded 14 penalties on the year, converting half of them at 7-for-14. Lehigh Carbon averages just shy of 9.5 shots per game.
Ian Cruz leads Lehigh Carbon with seven goals in 12 games on the season. All seven of Cruz's goals have come from the penalty spot. In eight of his 12 appearances, he's been in place for at least one penalty kick. Cruz has three games with two penalty chances, but only converted on one in each of those contests. Cruz last scored on a late penalty in the win over PSU Hazleton. He did not score in the match with Northampton, and missed a penalty in the loss to Harrisburg Area CC on October 8th. He recorded a shot, but did not score against Lackawanna College earlier this season.
Avery Moody is the second-leading scorer on the team with six goals and an assist this year. Moody has a team-high 19 shots on goal. Moody has scored in six of his ten appearances this season, including the goal he scored against Harrisburg Area last week. He also provided an assist in the 3-0 win against PSU Hazleton earlier this season. Moody did not appear in the loss to Lackawanna College earlier this season.
Kacper Pazur is the only other Cougar with more than one goal, having scored three so far this season. Pazur had been kept quiet for much of the year up until his two-goal outburst against PSU Hazleton in the 3-0 win. He added a goal in the loss to Harrisburg Area last month, but did not play in the match against Northampton. Pazur was held to just one shot in the 4-0 loss at Lackawanna College.
Jonathan Perloni has been the main keeper for the Cougars this season, saving a little over 60 shots on the year. Perloni has given up 25 goals in the ten appearances he's made so far this season. Perloni had five saves in the loss to Northampton, and was the keeper for the Cougars in their 4-0 loss to Lackawanna College earlier this season.
The head coach for Lehigh Carbon is Dave Cartwright, who spent four years as the Director of Soccer Operations and was an assistant coach with the Lafayette men's soccer program, helping the Leopards to a 2019 Patriot League final appearance.
Cartwright, a United Kingdom native, has an extensive background in youth soccer, especially in the Lehigh Valley, and also coached in the UK at West Wales and Peterborough United Development Academies. He also spent time as a scout for Nottingham Forest FC, which competes in the Premier League in England.
