ES: Falcons Drop Tight SSBU Contest To Bryant & Stratton

The match went the distance between the Falcons and the Bobcats, but it was B&S pulling out the victory.

10/12/22

SCRANTON, Pa. -- A back-and-forth match-up went to the wire, but it was Bryant & Stratton College that pulled out a 3-2 victory over Lackawanna College in National Junior College Athletic Association eSports (NJCAAe) Super Smash Bros Ultimate action on Wednesday evening.

Xavier Lasenburg (Scranton, PA; Gamertag: Lvl.X) went up against "BigFish" from Bryant & Stratton in tonight's NJCAAE SSBU Invitational matchup and it was a battle all the way through. Lvl.X brought out his normal pick of Ryu and BigFish made a surprising choice of Min Min from the Nintendo Switch game, ARMS. Min Min is less of a melee or brawler and more of an attacker from range. Right from the start, both players began trading blows and looking to up the damage percentage. BigFish managed to win the first round to take a 1-0 advantage, but Lvl.X bounced back with a strong second round victory to even the match at 1-1.

Entering the third round, BigFish switched characters to Snake, another character with range attacks. That switch, wouldn't pay off, however, as Lvl.X avoided the ranged attacks and was able to block and parry his way to a third round victory, giving Lackawanna a 2-1 lead in the match.

BigFish switched back to his original character of Min Min for the fourth round, and it seemed to do the trick for the player from Bryant & Stratton. Both the remaining rounds were tight, but BigFish managed to overcome the deficit and pull out a 3-2 victory, handing Lvl.X his first defeat on the year.

Tonight's loss puts Lvl.X at 1-1 in the NJCAAE SSBU Invitational season. Lvl.X and Lackawanna College will be back on-stream next Wednesday, 10/19 at 6:00pm ET versus Salt Lake Community College.
