Scranton, PA – The Lackawanna College Overwatch team opened up the NJCAAE season with a victory over Marion Military Institute on Thursday night. It was the first win of the year for the Falcons.
The first map of the night was Lijiang Tower, and from the opening roll out the Falcons brought their best dive strategy. The duo of
Paige O'Hara (Gamertag: Momjeans) and
Anthony Smith (Gamertag: Gummypwns) held a strong line for the rest of the Falcons to get to work. The result was a Falcon victory, and Lackawanna College taking a 1-0 lead over MMI.
The second map of the night was King's Row where, on the Lackawanna College attacking round, Drew Rusich (Gamertag: IMYOURFATHER) and
Chris Rojas (Gamertag: Bebbly)Â held the back lines by keeping the team rocking and rolling with decisive support play. On the defensive round, the Falcons made quick work of MMI to take the map and go up 2-0.
The final map selection of the night was Hanamura, where
Domenick Affatato (Gamertag: Deadly Raven) got his first action of the season. On the attack round the Falcons had almost topped their personal best time to capture both points with little resistance. On the defensive end, the Falcons were pushed to their limits, as MMI fought strong to take the first point and pushed to take the second. The Tigers tried a sneaky attempt to capture the final point known in the Overwatch community as a "C9", but the Falcons made a split-second adjustment to keep the map from going into overtime, securing the map and the match win. It's the first win for the Falcons under head coach
Robert Dee.
Â
The Falcons are now 1-3 overall (1-0 in NJCAAE play) and will be back in action on Monday, 9/27 with their next NACE matchup against St. Lawrence at 7:00pm ET. Be sure to tune into the Lackawanna College Esports
