SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Lackawanna College Esports Overwatch team had their season come to a close, losing 3-0 to Bryant & Stratton College out of Virginia, 3-0, in the NJCAAE semi-finals on Friday night.
It all started on the first map of the night: Lijiang Tower, where the Falcons and the Bobcats fought fiercely in the early going. After a hard fought back-and-forth round, the Bobcats edged out the Falcons to take the first round on the map. In the second round, the Bobcats defended and deflected the Lackawanna attack to seal victory and take a 1-0 lead after map one.
The second map of the night was the escort map, Kings Row. Bryant & Stratton took their play to the next level, securing the payload's path and destination to completion on their attacking round, and then defending well and not allowing the Falcons to advance the payload on the defensive round, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the match.
The next map was Hanamura. The Falcons gave it their all here, winning a few points and defending fiercely on their round, which ended with the map going to overtime. In the extra frame, the Bobcats found that extra gear, knocking out the Falcons to win the map, and the match, ending the Lackawanna Overwatch season.
The Falcons ended their NJCAAE season undefeated in the regular season, with their only loss coming in the semifinals match. Great season by our student-athletes, and we can't wait for the spring season to start! Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for our next Lackawanna College Esports events!
