Scranton, PA – The Lackawanna College Esports Overwatch team fell 3-0 to the Hawkeye Community College Redtails in an NJCAAE preseason match-up on Friday night.
The Falcons and Redtails met on the first map of the night, Lijiang Tower, to get things under way. Lackawanna College was met with great resistance by the Redtails. Hawkeye took the first point, then quickly went on the offense to make a quick 2-0 sweep to take the first map.
The second map choice was King's Row, the most well-known of all Overwatch maps. With a few tactical adjustments, the Falcons defense looked to rebound. Hawkeye had a strong initial push to capture the point and then pushed the payload to the final objective. Once Lackawanna College's turn to attack came up, they tried to push the barriers in an attempt to throw Hawkeye off their game. It wasn't enough, and the Falcons dropped the second map.
On the final map of the night, the Falcons selected Volskaya. In a shake up to the line-up, Lackawanna College rotated in Alex Rink (Gamertag Nasdire) on tank. On Hawkeye's offensive round, the Redtails made an adjustment that the Falcons have not seen all match, which resulted in Hawkeye capturing the first point, and then marching on to capture the final point in record speed. On the offensive round for Lackawanna College, the Falcons decided to try a new tactic they have been working on during practice. Rink rolled into action as Wrecking Ball to try to cause a stir in the Redtail back line. Hawkeye was not phased, and pushed back any advances by the Falcons to take the series 3-0. The Falcons fought tough to the end, but came up just short.
Lackawanna College is back in action on Monday night, when they take on Ryerson in NACE action. That match will be at 7:00pm. Stay tuned to the Lackawanna Esports Facebook and Twitter for scheduling updates and places to watch Overwatch matches with Lackawanna College.
