BLUE BELL, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Falcons fought to a draw, 2-2, in their first road game of the season at Montgomery County CC on Thursday afternoon.
Twice, the Falcons (0-1-1) held one-goal leads through the contest, and twice, the Mustangs (0-0-2) rallied to knot things up.
It was a substitute who would provide the first goal of the game, coming off the foot of Falcon sub
Samuel Acosta, staking Lackwanna College to a 1-0 lead in the 17
th minute of the first half.
The Mustangs would answer in the 37
th minute, when Chino Ahukanna slotted one past keeper
Matthew Pfohl to level the score at one apiece.
The Falcons would retake the lead in the second half, in the 57
th minute, when defender
Mamadou Ndiaye connected to put it past the keeper and put Lackawanna College up 2-1.
Yet again, Montco came back to draw level, this time on a Joseph Mwera goal in the 70
th minute. From there, neither team could breakthrough for the winner.
It was a game where Lackawanna College held the majority of possession, peppering the Montco net with 12 shots on goal, forcing ten saves from keeper Zachary Kovatch. On defense, the Falcons only surrendered six shots, but five were on target, forcing three saves from Lackawanna College keeper
Matthew Pfohl.
The Falcons have a short turnaround before they are back in action on Saturday September 18
th, when they travel to take on Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm ET.
