Hickory NC - Thursday the Lackawanna College women's basketball team's season came to an end in a 76-73 overtime loss to Arkansas State University Mid-South. The Falcons led 69-67 with 27 seconds left in regulation when the Greyhounds tied the score on a layup. Both teams then missed scoring opportunities to leave the score tied at 69-69 as the clock ran out in regulation.
In OT both teams played tenacious defense holding each other to four points until 17 seconds left on the clock. At that time, ASU Mid-South hit on a three-pointer to give them a 76-73 lead. As the clock continued to tick down Lackawanna's
Jamiya Eaddy made a three-point attempt to tie only to see it seemingly go in and then out of the rim.
Three Falcons had 16 point games in the loss.
Jamiya Eaddy used her 16 points along with 12 rebounds to record a double-double. The other pair to score that point total was
Nya Morris and
Briel Herbert.
With the loss, the Falcons finished the season with a 12-6 win/loss record and the knowledge and experience of what it will take to succeed in the forthcoming 2021/2022 season.Â
