Falcons Overwatch Team Starts the Spring Season with 3-0 Win Over Nassau CC

February 8, 2021

Scranton, PA - The Falcons Overwatch team starts their spring season with a 3-0 win over the Nassau CC Lions.

Starting on the first control map of Busan, the Falcons came out of the gates on fire. Unfortunately, one of our starters, Trinity "trinquinn" McAndrew got stuck at work a tad late and Lackawanna had to start a man down, but the Falcons did not show any fear and immediately took control of the first map. Nathan "Quakian" Ayers playing Hammond took his time and made a sneaky approach onto point in order to "boop" several of the Nassau players clear off the map, instantly leveling out the field of play. After Lackawanna took control of the first point, the Lions began their second approach only to be met by a team wipe by Chris "Bebbly" Rojas on Pharah. Using his Rocket Barrage ultimate, Bebbly was able to easily get Play of the Game with this quintuple kill. Nassau was eventually able to get on point and take some time away from the Falcons but the boys and girls in blue stayed resilient and quickly regained control of the point, winning the first round of Busan. The second round was a lot of the same from the Falcons as they were keeping the pedal down against the Nassau Lions. Everyone was pitching in to the fight. AJ "gummypwns" Smith and Paige "momjeans" O'Hara were keeping everyone alive on heals while Mikey "Salimander" Bochnovich was speeding around the map with Tracer getting elims left and right. The Falcons would go on to win the second round on Busan as well, bringing the match to 1-0 in Lackawanna's favor.

The second map is an escort map and Hollywood was the selected battleground. Trinquinn was finally ready to play but Nassau had a packed schedule this evening and needed to get started before she could get into the lobby, so the Falcons were still playing a man down, 5 vs 6. The Falcons began their approach to point with yet another cheeky flank by Quakian who was able to boop the Lions from their defensive perch. The remaining Falcons then stormed point and released the payload to begin their push. This is when playing a man down began to take effect. The Nassau Lions were able to repeatedly prevent the Falcons from pushing the payload to the first checkpoint and eventually ran out the clock before Lackawanna could make enough progress. The Lions only needed to release and push their payload to the first checkpoint in order to push the second map into overtime. Lackawanna was not giving up easily and their defense was stellar. Bebbly was putting on a show with Pharah and Salimander eventually switched to Reaper and put on a clinic of his own. With over 3 minutes left in the Lion's push, Lackawanna held off three offensive pushes in a row. Salimander solidified the second map victory with a disgusting 6 elimination team wipe which also earned him the Play of the Game. The match was now 2-0 in the Falcon's favor.

The third and final map was set to the assault map of Hanamura which happens to be one of Lackawanna's specialties. Starting out on offense, the Falcons made quick work in capturing the first point and quickly moved on to cap the second point, nearly matching their last season record time in capturing both points on Hanamura. The Falcons were playing out of control now that trinquinn was back in the game on heals. After winning the first offensive round, the full Falcons defense got their first chance of the Spring season to stand their ground. Lackawanna held off the first few attempts on the first point by the Lions but were eventually worn down and had to regroup on the second point in order to seal the victory in tonight's best of 5 series. They did just that with some key sniper plays by Quakian on Hanzo and Salimander on Ashe. The vantage point rotations between the two were too much to handle for Nassau. The Lions were eventually able to make their way onto the second point, but the Falcons regrouped and cleaned up the point before any advantage was gained by Nassau. The third map victory was sealed when Quakian and momjeans combined ults with Zarya's Grav and Hanzo's Double Dragons in order to completely halt any chance of the Lions getting to the second point.
