MBB: Lackawanna College Falls In Overtime Against County College Of Morris

Box Score 12/18/21

RANDOLPH, NJ – The Lackawanna College Men's Basketball team rallied from their halftime deficit to force overtime, but it wasn't enough on the road, as the Falcons lost to County College of Morris, 100-86, in overtime on Saturday afternoon in New Jersey.

The Falcons put five players in double-figures, including a team-high 14 points from Will Johnson, and shot 50% from the field in regulation, but were just 1-for-8 from the field in overtime, scoring only two points, while the Titans from Morris managed to put 16 on the board in the extra frame.

The Falcons got contributions from seven players in the first half, shooting 50% from the field, including eight points apiece from Daryl Coleman and Ahmir Ellzy, who would each finish with 10 and 13 points, respectively. Unfortunately, the Titans were right there with them, getting eight players on the scoresheet in the first half and also shooting 50%, hitting three more shots than the Falcons, including one more three-pointer in the first half.

Neither team could really separate from each other, as the Falcons quickly closed the gap. At one point in the second half, Lackawanna College had eleven straight points come from center Gabe Springer, who finished with 13 points in the contest. Will Johnson scored ten of his 14 points in the second half, as well. When the dust settled, both teams were locked at 84, sending the game to overtime, the first of the season for Lackawanna College.

In that extra period, the Titans continued to hit their shots, going 50% from the field, while the Falcons struggled to keep pace.

The Falcons shot 44.8% from the field for the game, but were just 5-for-15 from beyond-the-arc, while the Titans were a consistent 50% from the field throughout the afternoon.

This concludes the 2021 portion of the season for Lackawanna College. The Falcons will now head into their holiday break, and will be back to work on Thursday, January 6th, when they travel to Maryland to take on Cecil College. Tip-off for that game is set for 7:00pm ET.
