Esports: Valorant Remains Unbeaten With Sweep Over Manhattan

10/14/21

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Lackawanna College Esports Valorant team remained unbeaten with a 2-0 sweep over the Borough of Manhattan CC in NJCAAE play on Thursday night.

The Falcons (4-0) definitely got their stiffest test of the season so far from the Panthers, but Lackawanna remained cool, calm, and collected throughout the night.

The first map of the series was played out on Ascent. Manhattan CC kept fighting on both sides of the spike and were able to pull away seven rounds from Lackawanna College. The Falcons were able to counter with their growing team chemistry and strategic planning to turn the tide. With that solid communication, and some well-timed utilities and ults, Lackawanna College was able to keep their composure in order to seal the first map, 13 -7, to take a 1-0 lead.

The second and final map was played on Bind, which is a familiar and favorite map for Lackawanna. The Falcons started out on defense and planted themselves on site immediately. Manhattan were able to win three rounds when the Falcons' rotations were not exactly on point, but Lackawanna was able to keep momentum rolling. The Falcons would continue to trudge forward on every round, picking the Panthers off one by one. Nathan Ayers (Gamertag: Quakian) nearly had a six-elim ACE, which is only possible when the opposing team revives a downed player. He was picked off before he could get his sixth kill, but the five-piece he put together is still a beautiful play and definitely helped Lackawanna College clinch the map 13-3, and the match at 2-0.

The Falcons are back on-stream next week, 10/21 @ 7 PM EDT against the Sandburg Chargers. Be sure to tune in Twitch at twitch.tv/lackawannaedu to support our Valorant squad!
