Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball jumps out early but eventually falls to Paul D. Camp Community College, 13-8

Franklin, VA - Fresh off their sweep of Wake Tech yesterday, the Lackawanna College Baseball team traveled a few hours up Interstate 95, to face Region X member Paul D. Camp Community College.  The Falcons were riding a 7 game win streak and their offense has scored in double digits in its last 4 out of 6 games.  However, Paul D. Camp was one of the top teams in Region X and they have shown that their offense can come alive at any moment.  This would be the last game of Lackawanna's spring break trip, which has seen the Falcons win 7 of 8 games.

Lackawanna wasted no time getting on the board in the 1st inning, when David Williams singled in Carson Zuber, for the first run of the game.  Paul D. Camp tied it up, 1-1, in the bottom 2nd inning, but Carson Zuber answered with a solo homerun, to take the lead back, at 2-1.  After Colin Macko walked, David Williams came to the plate and hit his 6th homerun and 15th RBI of the season, to give the Falcons a 4-1 advantage.  Two batters later, Marlon Lindsey would hit the 3rd homerun of the inning and Lackawanna would enjoy a 5-2 lead.  Another homerun in the top of the 4th inning by Anthony Socci pushed the lead to 6-1.  However, in the bottom of the 4th, Paul D. Camp's offense woke up and tied the game at 6-6. The Falcons regained the lead when Marlon Lindsey hit a sacrifice fly, that scored Daivd Williams.  Paul D. Camp came out in the bottom of the 7th inning and had a big rally, which saw them score 4 runs, to take a 11-7 advantage.  Lackawanna would score their 8th run of the game, however, they could not overcome the Hurricanes' rally and took the loss, by a score of 13-8.

Even though the Falcons dropped the game, they wrapped up a very successful spring break trip.  During the week, they won 7 of 9 games and their offense showed the power that the preseason polls believed they had.  Lackawanna was led by David Williams who went 3-4, with 3 RBI's and a homerun, while Marlon Lindsey finished 2-4, with 2 RBI's and a homerun.
