Box Score Raleigh, NC - After winning 5 of 6 games in Myrtle Beach, the Lackawanna College Baseball team traveled north to Raleigh, NC to take on Wake Tech, in a Wednesday doubleheader. In 3 games this week, the Falcons had scored a total of 59 runs and were looking to add to that total against Wake Tech.
Nate McCalin got the start in game 1, and his offense gave him an early 1-0 lead, to work with. After pitching two shutout innings, Lackawanna got their bats going when
Carson Zuber hit a 2-run homer, followed by another Falcons' run, to go up 4-0. McClain pitched another solid inning, but Wake Tech would cut the Lackawanna lead in half, 4-2, in the 4th inning. That is as close as the Eagles would get, as
David Williams and
Owen Kiess each hit homers in the top of the 5th, to extend the lead to 7-2. That is all the scoring the Falcons would need, as they took game 1, 7-2.
Game 2 started the same as the first game, with Lackawanna taking an early 1-0 lead. The Eagles answered in their half of the 1st, to tie the score, but the Falcons got back to back solo home runs by
Colin Macko and
Marlon Lindsey to break the tie, 3-1. In the bottom of the 3rd, Lackawanna held a 1-run lead, 5-4.
David Williams increased the lead to 3 runs when he smacked his 2nd home run of the day. Once again, Wake Tech pulled within 1, but
Brandon Ernst got in on the home run action, when he hit a 3-run homer to increase the lead to 10-6.
Carson Zuber would put the game away with a 2-run triple and the Falcons came away with the win, 12-7.
Lackawanna has now won 7 games in a row and will continue to travel up north, to take on Paul D Camp Community College in Virginia. Paul D Camp is a member of Region X and was a #2 seed in their tournament last season. Start time is scheduled for 4:00pm tomorrow and the Falcons will look to end their road trip on a winning note.
