Box Score Wye Mills, MD – The Lackawanna College Baseball Team traveled to Maryland on Sunday for a doubleheader with Chesapeake Community College. The Falcons were on the road for the second weekend in a row and looking to bounce back from last weekend's series loss to Patrick Henry. The games were originally scheduled for Saturday but, due to the weather, had to be moved to Sunday.
Jake Kelchner got the start for Lackawanna in the first game and retired the side, in the bottom of the 1
st inning. He would continue to shutout the Skipjacks, until they were able to get a run across the plate, in the bottom of the 4
th, to take a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 5
th, the Falcons were able to tie things up, at 1-1. Both teams would score again, but Chesapeake was able to capitalize and ultimately take the first game of the doubleheader, 3-2.
In the second game of the day, Lackawanna struck first when
John Crane scored on an
Ian Diaz double, to take an early 1-0. The Skipjacks would answer with a run of their own, to tie things up at 1-1.
Wyatt Beddow was on the hill for the Falcons and recorded 7 strikeouts in 3 innings. During those 3 innings,
Matt Hayes drove in the go ahead run, to put Lackawanna up 2-1.
Kieran Versaw-Barnes came in to relieve Beddow and struck out 5, while giving up 1 run. At the end of 7 innings the score was tied 2-2, and the game would go into extra innings.
