Scranton, PA - The Falcons continue their playoff win streak with tonight's 4-0 victory over the Finger Lakes Community College in the first round of the NJCAAE Overwatch playoffs. On the first map, Lijiang Tower, the Falcons and FLCC showed that they both deserved to be in the playoffs, trading control of the point back and forth for all 3 rounds of the control map. The Falcons were able to gain the upper hand and eventually finished the map 2-1 to move onto the second map of the night, Kings Row. On this escort map, FLCC put up a major fight during the Falcons' push, but Lackawanna was able to deliver the payload as the final seconds ticked away. When it came for FLCC's push, they made a valiant effort to push the payload to its destination, but the Falcons successfully held them, giving the Falcons their second map of the night. Hanamura was set as the third map and the Falcons were able to take both points with ruthless efficiency leaving a minute on the clock. After the side change, FLCC initially stumbled due to strategic defensive placement by the Falcons on the first point, but they recovered and quickly moved on to the second capture point. Once again, the Falcons made a great defensive effort to hold off FLCC from capturing the last point, sealing the third map win for the Falcons. In the NJCAAE playoffs each series is a best of 7, so the match continued to the fourth and what would be the final map of Dorado. This final map was an all-out battle that went back and forth on both sides, eventually pushing the final round into an overtime escort. The FLCC defense was on point during the Falcons' push and they stopped us before the first checkpoint. This was a tall order for the Falcons' defense as they had to stop the FLCC push before they reached the destination of our payload push. Well, the Falcons' defense showed up to play as well and held the FLCC payload off, sealing the 4-0 victory. The Falcons' Overwatch team moves on to round 2 of the NJCAAE playoffs which will be played by or before Saturday, 12/12.
