Northern Virginia CC Defeats Lackawanna 13-6 in NJCAAE Valorant Matchup

November 20, 2020

Scranton, PA  - The Falcons lose tonight's NJCAAE Valorant matchup against Northern Virginia CC, 13-6. Lackawanna College started off with their normal ban on Ascent which led to NOVA choosing to ban Icebox, a newly added map. Being a best of one format in the NJCAAE, the Falcons then chose to play this match out on Bind where they would start out on the attack.  The Nighthawks' defense was solid right out of the gate. They played three players on A and two on B and held that strategy for the entirety of their defensive rounds. Krypt and Quakian would use their normal strat peeking through hookah with a Sova drone for some sight on point with Krypt's Reyna following close behind but NOVA's two-man defense on point B was strong enough to keep them at bay long enough for the rest of their team to rotate around to prohibit the Falcons from planting the spike. Their utility placement was a major factor in their defensive success. Lackawanna College could not win a round until the fifth round and they managed to pick up only two more rounds before the side change. The Falcons had their work cut out for them on defense and they would need to really plant their feet in order to prevent NOVA from running away with the match. The Nighthawks' offense turned out to be just as strong as their defense as they pushed onto point A several times in a row in order to win the next three rounds. There on match-point was when the Falcons would start to come alive and gain some momentum, but they were only able to win another three rounds on defense before NOVA sealed the match in the 19th round. The Falcons move to 6-1 in the NJCAAE Valorant fall season alongside Bismark and St. Clair. There will be no NJCAAE matches during the week of Thanksgiving and the playoffs for Rocket League, Overwatch, and Valorant are set to start the week of 12/7 so please stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for scheduling info on our NJCAAE Playoff matches!
