Wrestling defeats Middlesex County College 31-20

Edison, NJ – On Friday night, the Lackawanna College Wrestling team traveled to Edison, NJ to face the Blue Colts of Middlesex County College.  The Falcons were riding a 3 match win streak and looking to finish out 2019 on a winning note.  This would be Lackawanna's last match before the holidays and, with a win, the team would move above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The match began with Lackawanna's Mike Tuffy (125lbs) and Nate White (133lbs) each winning by forfeit, to give the Falcons the early advantage.  Middlesex County would get on the board when the Flacons' Brandon Judge (141lbs) lost by pin.  However, Lackawanna regained the momentum by winning the next 3 matches, with Dennis Belleh (149lbs) winning by technical fall, Rodney Driscoll (157lbs) by major decision and Alvin Hunter (157lbs) by forfeit.  The Blue Colts bounced back to win the next two matches defeating Joel Turner-Rogers (174lbs) by decision and picking up a forfeit in the 184lbs class.  Even though the Falcons had to forfeit the Heavyweight match, Jayden Bortz (197lbs) secured the team victory winning his match by decision.

The win moves Lackawanna to 7-6 on the season and extends their winning streak to 4 in a row.  The Falcons will be off until January 10th when they welcome in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to the Historic Student Union.  The two schools last met on November 26th, with Lackawanna earning a close 33-24 victory.  This will be the first opportunity for fans to see the Flacons at home.  Match time is scheduled to start at 6:00pm.
