SCRANTON, Pa. -- The twentieth Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year is Lackawanna College men's wrestling student-athlete, Jeremiah Diaz (Wyomissing, PA)!

Jeremiah was 3-0 this past weekend, securing the championship at 184 lbs. to give the Falcons a second champ for the weekend and help Lackawanna capture a Region XIX championship at the NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Championships. Diaz started the day with a win via decision over his opponent from Garrett, then took down his opponent from Gloucester with a fall in the second period to make the final. Against his adversary from Sussex, Diaz took an early lead and never looked in trouble, winning a 13-3 major decision to capture the title. Diaz is now 9-3 overall on the season heading into the national tournament in three weeks. All his matches have come in the spring semester.

The wrestling squad had eight national qualifiers, two champions, and took the Region XIX team championship this past weekend at the NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Championship. You can read all about it HERE.

The Falcons will be participating in the NJCAA Wrestling Championship tournament, set to take place on March 6th and 7th at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
