Men's Soccer Ends Season with 5-0 loss to RCBC in the Region XIX Tournament

Box Score

New Jersey – The Lackawanna College Men's Soccer team qualified for the Region XIX Soccer Tournament for the first time in 2 years, by receiving the 5th seed.  On Saturday 10/26 they faced the #4 seed Rowan College of Burlington County in the first round of the tournament.  While the Falcons were excited to be a part of the tournament, they faced a difficult challenge with the Barons.  The two teams last met on 10/6 in Scranton, with RCBC coming away with a 3-1 victory.  Unfortunately, this game would see the same result, as the Barons shutout the Falcons by a score of 5-0.

While it was not the outcome the Falcons had hoped for, they have a lot to be proud of this season.  First, the team had to go through some early adversity dealing with a coaching change, but new Head Coach Les Smith quickly brought the team together.  They won 4 of their first 6 games and would complete the season with the most wins since 2016, finishing the regular season at 6-6.  With only 6 graduating sophomores on the roster, Lackawanna is already looking forward to next season.  They have proven that the Falcons' Soccer program is moving in the right direction and is poised to be a contender for years to come in Region XIX and the NJCAA.
