Box Score

New Rochelle, PA – In what was billed as one of the most anticipated football games in the NJCAA this week, the #3 Lackawanna College Falcons traveled to New Rochelle, NY to face the #7 Monroe College Mustangs.  Both teams entered the game undefeated on the season and undefeated in the Northeast Football Conference.  The defenses came out early and looked to establish themselves.  However, Lackawanna's offense was able to move the ball into Monroe territory.  While they weren't able to get into the end zone, Cameron Ceccotti connected on a 28-yard field goal to give the Falcons an early 3-0 lead.  Monroe College was able to answer on the next possession, when they connected on a 21-yard touchdown pass to take the lead 7-3.  On the ensuing kickoff, Lackawanna would make a huge statement when Delvin Palmer returned it for 91 yards and a touchdown.  This is the 2nd week in a row that the Flacons have returned a kickoff for a touchdown.  Lackawanna would extend their lead to 17-7 before the end of the 1st quarter when QB Matt Cavallaro connected with Sameer Parks for a 5-yard TD pass.  Lackawanna would go into halftime with Monroe College only adding a FG to trim the Falcons' lead to 17-10.

Lackawanna College came out of the half and continued to dominate on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.  At the 5:28 mark of the 3rd quarter Cameron Ceccotti would connect on a 34 yard FG to extend their lead to 20-10.  At the end of the 3rd quarter Monroe College would pull to 20-17, but that was as close as Mustangs would get.  Lackawanna's offense would prove to be too much for Monroe as QB Matt Cavallaro found Sameer Parks for his 2nd TD of the game, with a 15-yard TD pass.   Cameron Ceccotti would add another FG and the Falcons would hold on for a 30-17 victory to remain undefeated on the season.  The Falcons accounted for 244 yards in total offense, with QB Matt Cavallaro completing 10-23 passes for 128 yards.

In addition to a productive night by the offense, the Lackawanna defense caused a number of problems for Monroe.  Ja'yir Brown, KeShaun Moore and Gianni Gamble each recorded 5 solo tackles.  The defense also accounted for 6 sacks, 1 fumble and 2 interceptions.  In the end, Monroe was unable to move the ball effectively against the Falcon defense.

Lackawanna College has now won 18 consecutive games and this ties a school record for most wins in a row.  With the win, the Falcons move to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the NEC, as the return home for the rest of the season.  Their 4 game home stand begins next Saturday when they welcome Hocking College to Scranton Memorial Stadium for a 1:00pm kickoff.
